This year’s Princeton Communiversity Festival of the Arts was
held on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in downtown Princeton New
Jersey. This annual street fair presented by the Arts Council
of Princeton and Princeton University is the joining of the
community with the university – hence comm-university. In
order to accommodate the crowd estimated at in excess of 30,000
people, portions of Nassau Street and Witherspoon Street were closed
to traffic for the majority of the afternoon.
In addition to all of the food vendors and booths set-up by local
establishments along the streets, performances by area artisans
could be enjoyed in seven different venues, including: Paul Robeson
Center for the Arts, Town and Gown State, Paul Robeson Stage,
Chambers Street Stage, Stage on the Green, A Capella in East Pyne
Arch, Stanhope Stage and the Princeton University Chapel.
Some of the notable performers to take the stage included Edna’s
Kin, Lisa Botalico Fiesta Flamenca, Princeton University Ballet, Tap
Cats, The Shaxe, The Klez Dispensers, Bailey, Hot Potootoes, The
Blue Meanies, Jon Lall, Eco Del Sur, Gyosei Yo / Dawn, Gargulo
Berman, Tigerlilies, Katzenjammers, Deaftones, Nassoons, Phyllis
Heitjan, and Raks Odalisque.
There were also plenty of activities on the Princeton University
campus where you could learn about student groups and interests,
watch students get covered with pie, and sample some exotic foods
from around the world. Posted 5/10/2009.

Hoagie Haven is located at 242 Nassau Street in the heart of downtown Princeton. You’ll come across some reviews that describe it as a hole in the wall – which is a somewhat accurate portrayal of its facade and décor. However, if here ever was truth to don’t judge a book by its cover, Hoagie Haven would be one of those good stories hidden by a poor cover. Known for its hoagies, sometimes called subs or grinders in other parts of the country, you can expect to get a good 12 inch long sandwich for under $7 – which is easily enough to serve 2 people. If you’re not in the mood for hoagies, they also have a grill which serves hamburgers, fries, bacon and other fried food. Other menu items include Subs, Grinders, Hoagies, Provolone Cheese, Capicola, Ham, Salami, Roast Beef, Tuna, Egg Salad, Cheese Steak, Hot Pastrami, Meatballs, Salami, El Mexicano Cheese Steak, Phat Lady, Big Cat, Gyro, Chicken Nuggets with Fries. Open 7 Days a Week from 9AM until Late. Click here for the latest review.
