2008 Jazz Feast Big Success

The weather couldn't have been nicer during the Jazz Feast that was held in Palmer Square on September 2008.  A beautiful day brought out large crowds ready to enjoy the jazz music while feasting on some great food from local establishments.  Even for the first act, Alan Dale and the New Legacy Jazz Band that featured Beth McDonald, there was standing room only around the stage.  Four other groups performed, including Daryl Sherman Group, Harry Allen Group, The Ed Polcer Swinget and the Princeton University Jazztet.  Click on the [>] start button below to watch a video of some of this year's Jazz Feast live in Palmer Square.

This year marked the 17th appearance by the New Legacy Jazz band, a full time professional ensemble.  This group performs at festivals, weddings, corporate and other private receptions, casinos, colleges and theaters throughout the mid-Atlantic states.  Daryl, the second act, has been a favorite at the Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis and will be making her third appearance on NPR's Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz.  Third up was Harry Allen whose recordings have made the top ten list for favorite new releases in Swing Journal magazine reader's poll and Jazz Journal International critic's poll.  Next was Ed Polcer who played tribute to Lionel Hampton, Red Norvo and Bunny Berigan.  The last act featured the Princeton University Jazztet that was directed by Anthony D.J. Branker.

Many people to the opportunity to enjoy some gourmet food from the area's restaurants that included the Alchemist & Barrister, Buzzetta Festival Foods, Chez Alice Gourmet Cafe & Bakery, Masala Grill, Mediterra, Mehek, Olives, The Original Soupman, Teresa Caffe, Thomas Sweet Chocolate, Tico's, Tiger Noodles, Tigers Tail, Triumph Brewery, Underground Cafe, Winberrys and the Yankee Doodle Tap Room.
